Pancakes and Jet Skiing

This Monday and Tuesday I took off work to go to Leah's grandparent's lake house at Lake Wabaunsee along with her, Landon and David. It was about a two hour drive from Newton. After being around 100 for the past I don't know how long, we're finally getting a "cold front" if you can even call it that. It was only about 8 the past few days, which ended up being perfect for the lake. We were able to sit out on the deck and eat meals and just relax without working up a sweat. Leah's grandparents took wonderful care of us, and fed us very well to top it off. I'd never been out on a jet ski before, so that was probably the most exciting part of the trip for me. Because I'm not 21 yet, I couldn't drive it by myself without a license, but I got to drive around with Leah on Monday, and then Landon on Tuesday. Landon is a bit scarier of a driver, but I never actually flew off even though I was terrified. We switched off driving a few times, and spent at least an hour just cruising around the lake.
Monday night when we had our fill of the lake, we came up to the house and had dinner with Leah's grandparents. They're very nice people and the conversation was easy. the sunset over the lake was beautiful so we hung out on the dock for a while trying to capture it adequately on our cameras. We just relaxed then afterwards, watched a movie and Landon and I played Battleship.
We all got plenty of sleep and slept in until about 11, when Leah's grandpa made us pancakes. The girls got special heart shaped ones, apparently this is a well loved tradition. They were delicious. We went back out to the lake for a while, floating/laying around and riding the jet skis. Since we had woken up so late but didn't want to miss out on pancakes, we had a very late lunch at about 4, right before we left to go back home. It was a really fun "weekend" and an excellent getaway.
